Kerhonkson is a laid-back Hudson Valley hamlet with a little bit of everything: mountain views, winding country roads, and easy access to some of the region’s best trails and hiking. Tucked between Accord, High Falls and Ellenville, this quiet enclave has become a go-to for people who want that peaceful upstate feel while still being close to great food, services and amenities, and plenty of weekend adventures. Its small but mighty collection of businesses add real character, and the Catskills scenery and abundance of farms enhances the overall feel of country living. It’s the ideal home base if you want to slow down, soak up the outdoors, and still keep all the buzzy neighboring towns within a short, scenic drive.
North Branch is a tiny Catskills hamlet with a big dose of charm, tucked right between some of our other favorite spots—Callicoon, Jeffersonville, Roscoe, and Livingston Manor. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in sweeping views, peaceful country backroads, and that unhurried pace that makes you want to linger. The handful of businesses here are true gems—each one worth a special stop—and they give the place a distinct personality all its own. It’s the perfect landing spot if you want to stay just outside the hustle and bustle of neighboring towns, while keeping all their restaurants, shops, and events just a quick drive away.
While Jeffersonville has long been a desirable destination for urbanites to discover the charms of country living, the business district is experiencing something of a renaissance. Its small-town feel is now buzzing with fresh energy as new eateries, boutiques, and creative businesses set up shop — reshaping the experience while keeping its easygoing pace and authentic vibe.

Ever wondered why a property listing shows both a “town” and a “city”? In the Catskills and Hudson Valley, this isn’t just semantics, it reflects how New York’s municipalities and postal areas are structured, and it can directly affect your taxes and long-term ownership costs.
