About The Property

The current owner purchased the house in 2017 and began a sweeping renovation. The rear entrance was reconfigured, with a terrific mud room, and an expanded bathroom/laundry room which now includes a tiled shower, and is enclosed with a sliding barn door. The kitchen received a lot of focus: A large gray herringbone tile was put down, a window added by the sink, all new kitchen cabinets with island were added along with a gas stove and new propane line. A dividng wall with the former dining room was removed to create a lovely open concept space.

Two wide openings connect this space with the large living room. which runs along the front of the house, enjoying wonderful light from the five windows and the front door. In the evolution of the house, the downstairs bedroom/office was an add-on, and is the bump out on the left side of the house. Its entrance is next to the gorgeous wood staircase. All the doors and closet doors which had been hollow core were upgraded to solid doors in a more appropriate style. The roof above the rear entrance was replaced in 2018, however the remainder of the house does need a new roof.

Set at the corner of Shandelee Road and Stump Pond Road and fronted by an incredible, sprawling tree (is it a catalpa?), the property includes a substantial clearing along the left side, and behind the house an old chicken coop sits near the rear property line. The location is wonderfully handy for exploring and enjoying the noteworthy towns of Callicoon, Jeffersonville and Livingston Manor, all under ten minutes’ drive.
