Just two miles from the delightful hamlet of North Branch, expansive meadow views entice you up the long driveway, eventually revealing the dramatic authentic log home with its array of large windows and glass doors, as well as a separate modern studio off to the side. With massive timbers and detailed stick work referencing Adirondack Mountain style cabins, the house cuts a striking figure among the rolling fields and mature pines and maples that flank it.

The bluestone-tiled entry is thoughtfully set up with a bench, coat closet and powder room, ideal for the outdoorsy Catskill lifestyle, its weather, and all the gear that comes with that. A pretty guest bedroom is nearby, accented by two log walls and beams overhead.

The Great Room lives up to its name, with soaring ceiling, a wall of glass that makes the panoramic views visible from numerous points within the house, and offers easy access to the wraparound decks. A substantial flagstone fireplace is a focal point, with the wood and stone vibe very in keeping with the Catskills cabin theme.

Renovated with quartz countertops, Kohler fixtures and new appliances, the legit chef’s kitchen includes long stretches of countertops, a gas stove, has plenty of storage and is beautifully integrated into the overall open concept space. Topping it off, there is a generous dining area for savoring meals and conversation.

The spacious, lofted primary suite, accessed via a spiral staircase, enjoys sweeping views of the trees and meadows behind the house, and has an inviting TV / reading nook tucked into a side dormer. The luxe, light-drenched, tiled bathroom features a soaking tub / shower and built-in bench.

A maple and iron staircase leads to the lower level, where a TV lounge with wood stove can accommodate a group for movie nights. There is a cheery yellow bedroom, and a sleek black-tiled full bath with soaking tub and separate shower. Rounding off this floor is a handy large laundry room, followed by a well-lit utility room with space for storage.

The current owners created the Scandinavian-inspired outbuilding as an art studio. In one half they installed a clear garage door for maximum natural light, and included a lounge and a split unit for heat and A/C. They use the other bay (separated by a wall) for storage, although it could easily house your car. It’s also possible to upgrade the building to serve as a guest house.

Delightful paths have been cut through the fields that sway with grasses and wildflowers, ready for walks with the dog, your family, your friends. All the while there is uplifting birdsong. Harvest apples and pick your own raspberries and blackberries without leaving the property. For those with a green thumb or gardening aspirations, there are raised beds that are longing for resuscitation. And if little ones are part of the picture, there is a custom Cedar Works playset. There is even a small pond (easily expanded) that attracts diverse bird and wildlife.
