About The Property

Claryville Cottage is a breath of fresh air (quite literally). A bright, south-facing 1950s home on 4.5 peaceful acres along a dead end road, the property abuts literally thousands of acres of preserved Catskill Park, State land at the rear, and is convenient to myriad hiking trails and picturesque spots. Among them the popular Red Hill Fire Tower and scenic Blue Hole, a chilly swimming experience in an “enchanted forest” setting.

The living room features a picture window that just makes the space. With views of distant hills folding into one another as the sun streams in, this room is a delight. It flows then into a dedicated dining area, where a sliding glass door leads out to a side deck, the likely spot for a grill, handy to the efficient kitchen. There is a fire pit and a couple of chairs under the pines, just steps from the deck.

The first of three pleasing bedrooms is off the living room and faces the front corner. The second and third are off the dining room, and at back is the sleek bathroom with enclosed shower. A stacked washer and dryer are tucked into a former closet.

A path through cleared land behind the house climbs steadily, offering increasingly dramatic views. Up in the woods, under a tall canopy, a second fire pit (this is The Catskills, after all) provides an excuse to make the brief trek. There are incredible rock outcroppings up in these woods, and the absolute serenity is pervasive. With State acreage over the property line, your walk in the woods could extend for about as long as you care to continue.
