Having recently been refurbished, White House is a bright new take on an historic 1840s home. As part of a large estate, adjacent to a working organic farm, this home is a great base for exploring and plugging in to this unspoiled area, and for creating memories on the dynamic grounds of this wonderful property.

On the ground floor, a generous living room with gas fire and comfortable seating area is a welcoming gathering place. If a movie is in the cards, roll out the SmartTV and if a fire is more your thing, it’s a cinch to light. A spacious country kitchen with tin backsplash has a country vibe, with the key appliances for comfort. There is a full bathroom (with walk-in shower) on this level.

The four bedrooms are upstairs off a central landing. Three feature queen beds (two could be considered the master), and one is a full bedroom which the owners would be happy to reconfigure into an office. Upstairs the bathroom includes a tub/shower.

There is a fenced vegetable garden that hasn’t been used in several years, but which you could resuscitate. A big old barn is a stately monument on the property.

The Neversink River, home to spritely native brook trout, is just a short walk along a path through the woods from the house. Barring a drought, it has a swimming hole that is sure to refresh. You will be drawn to it if for no other reason than to watch the changing light on the crystal clear waters.

In 2010, Neversink Farm was launched next door. It’s an organic farm producing vegetables, honey, a huge swath of cut flowers, and chickens in the fields behind the barn. They have a Saturday farm market that will certainly enhance your country experience by including eggs, produce and more, just about as local as you can get. Please note: Tenants are not permitted to wander the farm (for liability and safety reasons).
